PHOTOSHOP

MARQUEE TOOL

This was the first task given on Photoshop, utilising the Marquee tool to create a dog from ellipses and rectangles, employing the use of reduction and addition to manipulate these into more complex shapes.

As this was my first attempt on Photoshop, I intend to come back to it at a later date once better practiced, as the lines are not as clean in some places as I would like.

MULTIPLY TOOL

Initially I chose more similar colours for his task, however was dissatisfied with the lack of tonal distinction so instead went with opposing colours, allowing a much starker contrast. I feel that this suits the simplistic design and equally stark shapes, built using the skills I had developed from the previous Marquee experiment.

SCAN EXPERIMENTS

I used a 6B pencil for the outline and then POSCA pens for the texture of the skin and hair, which I feel has given it an interesting texture. I did have some issues though as I chose a light coloured pen for the face, which the scanner and Photoshop software struggled to pick up, although it was alright after I multiplied the layers. I will know for next time to use darker pens for all aspects as I can impose specific tones and colours over them afterwards on Photoshop.

INDESIGN

CD BOOKLET

Playing about with text and images on Indesign to make a mock-up CD booklet based on the lyrics to a Bob Dylan song (I chose It’s Alright Ma, I’m Only Bleeding).
