PROJECT 3: SKETCHING, TYPOGRAPHY & VISUALISATION
PERSPECTIVE

INTRODUCTION TO TYPOGRAPHY
THUMBNAILS

From my initial thumbnails I produced a first attempt of the posters using Adobe InDesign. I found fitting the given text into the designs the most difficult aspect, which led to the designs looking over-crowded and top heavy, and made mistakes in not proofreading which led to a repetition of the title in each piece.

Too crowded, difficult to read.
REVISITED DESIGNS

I still struggled with how to arrange the type within the design here, so while updated I don’t think I particularly improved this design. Particularly, the thin columns in the bottom right read poorly, and my use of justified text has created strange shapes within the text body which, were I to do this exercise again, I would remove.

Although an improvement over the initial design, there are still aspects here that could be improved: primarily the way in which the different paragraph widths of the top text segregate them and prevent them from appearing as continuous text.
PROJECT 3: THEATRE POSTER
RESEARCH
INITIAL THUMBNAILS

I attempted to create as many unique ideas for potential posters as possible to provide myself with the broadest starting point I could manage. This allowed me to draw in different aspects of the posters during refinement, making greater changes having seen how ideas worked in a different composition.
REFINEMENTS
I chose five designs from my initial thumbnails to explore and refine.

FINAL CLIENT VISUALS

From the designs I refined, I chose the three pictured above to present as my final visuals.
